CST 349 & CST 300 Week 7

Part One: Reflecting on our Video Project Planning

Most of our work was done the same way we did our other group assignments. We met up a few times a week in google hangouts, shared ideas and laid out a text outline in a shared google doc, and then collaborated to fill out a slideshow presentation. We then went through and created a voice over of each for our respective sections of the slideshow and sent them to our resident editor to put the video together. The process was smooth and without much issue. I would maybe push for meeting up more frequently and asking for longer sessions as we tended to do a lot of the project on our own.

 

Part Two: Reflecting on the Lecture Readings and Our Week
In CST 300, we completed our Stakeholder Analysis Essays. With that, we have completed our time in this course while proving and improving our writing skills and research abilities. This essay taught us a lot about how ethical considerations in technology and how to filter bias when writing professional papers.

 In CST 349, we watched relevant ted talks, listened to a podcast on the perils and promises of AI, and reviewed some examples of how to craft a presentation. For my ted talk, I listened to Vlad Tenev's talk titled "AI is coming for your job. Now What?" It was an optimistic take on the future of the job market describing the exponential growth of jobs throughout history as society moved from hunters and gatherers up through the modern ages. The podcast discussed the nuances of integrating AI, addressed fears of lower-skilled jobs being replaced by AI. A striking metaphor they used was comparing the adoption of AI to driving a car: it takes more than accelerators and brakes to be a good driver, you need things like speedometers, side mirrors, airbags, etc. The presentation design document gave us good ideas for our final video project that I hope to incorporate in future slideshows such as how to incorporate graphs and visuals without overwhelming viewers.

CST 349 & CST300 Week 2

  Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy In general, I have a lot of confidence in the strategies listed for test-taking. My weaknesses are related to my schedule and the way I study. My strengths with regards to learning strategies are in my meticulous note-taking, ability to parse the main idea in a passage, and surveying objective examinations so I can plan out how I want to tackle them. As for three areas where I could improve: Making and revisiting a schedule, Asking myself questions about the content as I learn it, and coming back to review or study. CST 349 and CST 300 - Week 1 Learning Journal

     The first week of my journey through the CSUMB Computer Science Online program has come to a close. It was hectic: our group was scrambling to find a meeting time and get everyone connected on Slack while some of us were still recovering from illnesses we got over the holidays.      In CST 349, we learned about the history and staff behind CSUMB as well as effective methods of learning online and being professional while operating in group environments. We also built the foundations for the rest of the program and hopefully our future careers with the setup of these blogs, LinkedIn profiles, and meeting all of our peers.
